False Pretenses Arrest

4100 Block of Oxford Lane – On August 3, 2015 the resident reported that on July 30 she had received a telephone call from a male subject claiming to be from the IRS and that she needed to make payment immediately or go to court. The victim withdrew money from her account and deposited it in the account number the caller had provided before realizing it was a fraud. As the result of an extensive investigation by a Patrol Division officer, the suspect was positively identified as a Tampa, Florida man and a warrant was obtained charging him with obtaining more than $200 by false pretenses. On December 2, Rahul Narang of 601 Frederic H. Spaulding Drive, Tampa, was charged with being a fugitive from justice and taken into custody by the Tampa Police Department. On December 10, City of Fairfax Police transported him to Fairfax where he was taken to the Adult Detention Center and the false pretenses warrant was served.

Fraud Arrest

3500 Block of Queen Anne Drive – On January 7 the resident reported that between June 1, 2015 and December 15, 2015 a male subject known to her had made numerous unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account. As the result of investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division warrants were obtained charging Kambiz Bahamin, 32, of the 3500 block of Queen Anne Drive, Fairfax, with money laundering, grand larceny, credit card theft, credit card fraud and identity theft. On January 13 he was taken into custody and transported to the Adult Detention Center where the warrants were served. He was ordered held without bond.


10300 Block of Layton Hall Drive / Layton Hall Apartments – On January 12 at 3:28 PM a resident reported that sometime after 8:30 AM unknown person(s) had stolen his tablet computer, a leather bag and cash from the apartment.

Vandalism Arrest

10800 Block of First Street – On January 13 at 11:51 PM an officer responding to a report of a male subject throwing rocks at a vehicle located the damaged car. As the result of investigation by the Patrol Division a suspect was identified and located. Tavon Rakim Hunt, 25, of 12970 Katherine Hanley Court, Fairfax, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with felony destruction of property and his bond was set at $4000.
