Stone Wall Repair Closes a Portion of Sidewalk on Fairfax Boulevard 2/16 - 3/31
The city is re-capping the stone wall on eastbound Fairfax Boulevard between Rebel Run and Plantation Parkway, which necessitates the closure of the portion of sidewalk adjacent to the stone wall during construction.
The work will be conducted in two phases, and pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on westbound Fairfax Boulevard during that time. The Public Works Department will post signs to direct pedestrians across the street via crosswalk at traffic lights for the portion of sidewalk currently under repair. Vehicle traffic will not be affected by this project.
The work schedule is:
- February 16 to March 3: the sidewalk on eastbound Fairfax Boulevard from Rebel Run to Stafford Drive will be closed.
- From March 6 to March 31: the sidewalk on eastbound Fairfax Boulevard from Stafford Drive to Plantation Parkway will be closed:
About 965 linear feet of the existing wall between Rebel Run and Plantation Parkway is deteriorating due to infiltration from the top and from freeze-flow damage.
Please note: work schedule is subject to change in case of inclement weather. Information: 703-385-7810.
