Stone Wall Repair Closes a Portion of Sidewalk on Fairfax Boulevard 4/7-28

Post Date:04/25/2017

The city is re-capping the stone wall on eastbound Fairfax Boulevard between Rebel Run and Draper Drive, which necessitates the closure of portions of sidewalk adjacent to the stone wall during construction.

Crews are scheduled to work on the wall at Draper bridge from 7 am to 3 pm April 7-28. The eastbound sidewalk on Fairfax Boulevard will be closed between Rebel Run and Draper Drive. (Please note: work schedule is subject to change in case of inclement weather.)

Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on westbound Fairfax Boulevard during that time. The Public Works Department will post signs to direct pedestrians across the street via crosswalk at traffic lights for the portion of sidewalk currently under repair. Vehicle traffic will not be affected by this project.

About 965 linear feet of the existing wall between Rebel Run and Plantation Parkway is deteriorating due to infiltration from the top and from freeze-flow damage.
