Attempted Larceny
17-16934

3201 Old Lee Highway / Home Depot – On November 4 at 4:33 PM a security officer reported that a male subject had collected items of merchandise in a shopping cart and attempted to leave the store without paying. When confronted, the suspect left the items behind and fled on foot, subsequently departing the area in a vehicle. The Field Operations Division is investigating the case.

Larceny

3950 University Drive / Hot Yoga – On November 5 at 1:35 PM the victim reported that sometime between 10:00 AM and 12:00 Noon unknown person(s) had taken her car keys which she had left on a shelf while attending class. She subsequently discovered that her vehicle had been entered and her wallet stolen from the glove compartment. The wallet contained cash, identification, checks and credit cards.

DUI Arrest

Fairfax Boulevard / Warwick Avenue – On November 5 at 1:41 PM officers investigating a traffic crash determined that one of the drivers involved was intoxicated. Gerber Araniba, 51, of 10805 Harvey Drive, Fairfax, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol—second or subsequent offense, no operator’s license, no vehicle insurance, and following too closely.

Shoplifting

11001 Lee Highway / Aldi – On November 6 at 2:48 PM a security officer reported it had been determined that a female subject had picked up several items in the store and took them to a cashier, claimed she was returning them, and received cash. The same suspect then returned to the store and took merchandise which she placed in a shopping bag and then left the store without paying.

Defrauding Cab Driver Arrest

9550 Fairfax Boulevard – On November 7 at 1:31 AM the victim reported that a female subject he had transported from a Metro station had said she was going to get money for the fare from a friend inside a shop, but then did not return. Officers located the suspect in the area and she initially provided a false name. Divinity L. Warrington, 25, of no fixed address, was transported to the Adult Detention Center where she was charged with defrauding a cab driver and providing false information to law enforcement. Her bond was set at $3000.
