On behalf of the Men and Women of the City of Fairfax Fire Department, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our online home. I hope you find the information you need here and if not feel free to contact me or any member of staff.

The City of Fairfax Fire Department is a combination department comprised of career employees of the City of Fairfax and volunteer members of the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department Inc. Together we provide fire suppression, emergency medical service, and special operations service to the City of Fairfax and a 14 square mile area of Fairfax County that immediately surrounds the City of Fairfax, as well as the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University (GMU).

I am sure each of you are as happy as we are to finally see the warmer weather upon us. This spring we are particularly excited about several items. We are awaiting the arrival of two new Horton 2015 EMS transport units to replace two units that have passed their useful service life. A new Pierce Tower Ladder aerial truck is also being built and we expect that to be delivered in time for the July 4th celebration.

We have partnered with the American Red Cross this year to conduct a Home Fire Preparedness Campaign. Our goal is to make sure that every residence within the City has working smoke detectors. We intend to do this in a door to door campaign and expect it will last several months. Look for more information coming out soon. Don’t wait for us though, check and make sure that your detectors are working.

Finally, we are very excited in the City to be hosting two events of the World Police Fire Games 2015 . The games involve over 12,000 athletes and their families from over 60 countries coming to compete in 60+ sporting events around the National Capital Region from June 26 – July 5, 2015. The City of Fairfax will host the Cycling Criterium on the streets of downtown Fairfax on June 28 and following the annual July 4th parade we will host the “Fireman’s Muster” event right in front of Fire Station 3 on University Dr. You can go to http://fairfax2015.com for information.

Our entire website is also a source for a wide range of information about our department, its members, emergency preparedness, our response activities, safety programs, training & special event information as well as the day-to-day activities of the department. Spread the word and also Follow us on Twitter. If you don’t see something you would like to on our site please feel free to let me know.

Our organizational motto is "Taking Pride In Excellence" and we are blessed with members who live up to that motto every day. I could not be more proud of the level and quality of service that our members provide to our community. The website showcases who they are and the work that they do.

Please feel free to visit at any time, our members would be happy to show you around our facilities and answer any questions you may have.
