Child Care Provider Appreciation Day
The Commission for Women sponsored Provider Appreciation Day on May 8, 2010. Nearly twenty city home child- care providers attended and received continuing education lectures on such topics as: SIDS prevention, optimizing quality child care and creating a good child care environment. Also present at the event were vendors from Reach Out and Read, Discovery Toys, Little Picasso’s, Fairfax County Health Department and Dante Salon. The vendors offered free massages to providers, and crafts were taught to all interested participants. Everyone enjoyed lunch together in the atrium at City Hall. The Commission for Women provided the impetus for the initial regulation of family home child care providers in 1990, and remains committed to enhancing quality home child care.
