Leaf Collection

Leaf Collection Update:

All six zones have been completed for Week 1 of Fall Leaf Collection.

Don't Bag It! Curbside Leaf Collection Provided in November and December

No Bagged Leaves are Collected Beginning 11/2

The City of Fairfax Public Works Department provides curbside leaf collection on weekdays from November 2 through December 31. During this curbside collection period, no bagged leaves are collected.

Please have all leaves raked to the curb by December 23 for prompt collection.

The city assigns a crew to each of the six sections of the city. The crew continues to work through their assigned section throughout the leaf season, attempting to provide service about once every two weeks. Please note that during heavy leaf fall and inclement weather, there is the possibility of delays in service.

Remember, leaves are collected loose at the curb only during these designated times. At all other times of the year, leaves must be placed at the curb on regular trash days in trash cans or yard waste bags. Please keep all leaves and other yard waste separate from trash at the curb.

Avoid trashing leaves completely and consider mulching your leaves for your yard. Homemade mulch is a cheap and easy alternative to store-bought mulch, and is 100 percent organic. For information, call 703-385-LEAF.
