Carolyn Pitches is serving her fourth term as a Fairfax City School Board member. She has served as Vice Chair of the Fairfax City School Board for three years and is Fairfax City Schools representative to the Washington Area Boards of Education.
Ms. Pitches received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education K-8 in 1992 from Virginia Tech and her Master’s degree in Education K-12 in 2002 from George Mason University. For nearly a decade, Mrs. Pitches taught 6th and 8th grade math in the Prince William County Public Schools. For the last 9 years, she has been a teacher at Flint Hill School, where she is the Math Specialist for grades 3-4.
In 1997 and 1999, Mrs. Pitches was awarded the Teacher of Excellence Award for Prince William County Public Schools. She also served as co-chair on two Prince William County Public Schools committees: The Substance Abuse Committee (Core Team) and the At Risk Committee, where she planned, designed and wrote grants to provide a program for students in need of additional support.
Ms. Pitches and her husband Justen have lived in the City of Fairfax since 1999. They have two daughters who attend Fairfax City Schools, where she is a classroom volunteer, Education Committee Chair at Providence Elementary and PTA member at the schools.
