Pavilion Rentals

Picnic pavilions are available for public use and enjoyment year-round at numerous Fairfax City parks and are available on a first-come, first-served basis unless a permitted reservation is scheduled at the time.

Rental Time Slots

  • Daily: 8 a.m.–1 p.m. or 2–7 p.m.
  • Full-day rental: Available by reserving both morning and afternoon time slots.

What’s Included in Your Rental?

When you reserve a pavilion, your permit includes:

  • Private use of the pavilion
  • Picnic tables within the pavilion (tables cannot be moved)
  • The nearest outdoor grill (charcoal and supplies not provided)
  • The nearest trash receptacle (renters are responsible for disposing of oversized trash)

Note: Electricity is not available at pavilions.

Reservation Process

Reservations are required for guaranteed use and must be made in advance. Full payment is required at the time of the reservation.

Reservations cannot be made by phone.

  1. Choose a pavilion from the list below.
  2. Check availability. Reservations must be made at least four days in advance.
  3. Submit an application and payment. Pavilions cannot be rented over the phone.

    2. Submit a written application(PDF, 696KB)
  4. Submit any special rental add-ons, if applicable.
  5. Receive your permit.

Refund and Cancellation Policies

To cancel or reschedule, please email us.

Weather policy: Pavilion rentals are outdoor facilities. Refunds are only granted for severe weather.

Available Options

Reschedule: Notify us at least 24 hours in advance to move your reservation to a later date (subject to availability) at no charge.

Cancel and Refund

  • 7+ days before your rental date: Full refund.
  • Less than 7 days before your rental date: Refund minus a $25 processing fee.
  • Processing time:
    • Card payments: 3–5 business days for a refund to your card.
    • Cash or check payments: Up to six weeks for a check to be mailed

Requirements for Special Add-Ons

  • Renters may request one special add-on per pavilion rental (personally owned or hired), as long as all requirements are met and no park rules(PDF, 244KB) or city code ordinances are violated.
  • Approved add-ons are for private use only and cannot be open to the public.
  • Failure to submit the required documentation may result in permit denial and future restrictions on renting Fairfax City recreational facilities.

Bounce Houses & Moon Bounces

  • Limit: One per rental permit
  • Insurance: Provide an original Certificate of Liability Insurance listing the City of Fairfax as insured for at least the duration of the pavilion rental.
  • Responsibility: The renter and/or provider is responsible for all equipment operation and setup.
  • Athletic Field Use: If an athletic field is required for setup, renters must obtain an Athletic Field/Gymnasium Use permit (subject to approval by the Athletics Division)
