Public Open House on Future Land Use Map

City Seeks Input on Future Land Use Map

Where do you see growth and redevelopment in the City of Fairfax in the next 15 to 20 years? The City seeks your input on an update to the Future Land Use Map. As a critical piece of the Comprehensive Plan, the Future Land Use Map defines the type of development and redevelopment envisioned in the City and specifies where it should occur. Open houses will be held on Saturday, April 14 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Old Town Hall and on Tuesday, April 17 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Sherwood Community Center. A brief presentation will be given at the beginning of each event.

The comprehensive Plan provides guidance on land use, transportation, housing, economic development, environment, parks and historic preservation. It is the primary reference tool for decision-making related to land use and development, and informs all zoning and budget decisions. Virginia localities mist develop a comprehensive plan and review it every five years. The City last updated its plan in 2012.
