"A Celebration of Robert Burns"
Scots everywhere pay tribute to one of their most prolific and talented poets, Rabbie Burns, the Bard of Ayreshire, on his birthday, January 25. Born in 1759, Burns not only penned copious poetry, but collected literature and songs that reflected his Lowland Scottish heritage and incorporated them in many of his compositions. Over the centuries, a Burns Nicht or Burns Supper has come to include the wearing of the plaids of clans (tartans) from all over Scotland, the presentation of haggis, accompanied by Burns' beloved "Address to the Haggis", with the recitation of other of his poems. And always, lots of music, culminating in Burns' original version of "Auld Lang Syne".
Performances begin at 8:00pm October through April. Please find the full schedule of performers here.
All performance take place at Old Town Hall, unless otherwise noted.
Please arrive early as there are no booked tickets and it is on a first-come, first-served basis.
