Civic Association Leaders: Download Applications Now for the Annual Matching Grant Program

Post Date:02/04/2019 7:40 AM

Every year, the City of Fairfax Community Appearance Committee awards grants of up to $1,000 to community and neighborhood associations to make appearance improvements within their communities.

Qualified improvements must be performed on commonly-owned, private property and viewable from public right-of-way. Improvements must be new and permanent — not seasonal, such as installing annual flowers.

This is a matching grant: the city awards an amount equal to half the cost of the proposed improvements, up to half of the awarded grant amount.

Neighborhood associations will receive messages from the Community Appearance Committee with information. Applications are due by April 19. Information: email, 703-385-7995.

Hard copy receipts are required for all reimbursements. Reimbursable activities shall conform to City of Fairfax procurement requirements. Applicants shall demonstrate approved project expenses that match or exceed the approved grant funding amount prior to reimbursement demonstrate that they have obtained such approvals, etc. prior to receiving the matching grant.

All work shall conform to applicable City building code and land use requirements and community association regulations.  Approval of a matching grant does not authorize the successful applicant to perform any work which may require approvals, permits, investigations or licenses. Those, as needed, remain the responsibility of the applicant. If applicable, the successful applicant may be required to demonstrate that they have obtained such approvals, etc. prior to receiving the matching grant.
