COVID-19 UPDATE: Thursday, March 19, 2020 4:50pm

In this time of increased concern over the COVID-19, the health and safety of our community is our top priority.

📢 ALL programs, events, private rentals, field permits, and pavilion rentals are CANCELLED until further notice.

📢 At this time due to the recommendations of the CDC all of our facilities (Green Acres Community Center, Young at Heart Senior Center, Sherwood Community Center, Old Town Hall, and Historic Blenheim) will be closed until further notice.

📢 Based on CDC guidance, gatherings over 50 people including programs, events, private rentals, and pavilion rentals will be cancelled until further notice.

📢 Parks and Trails will remain open to the public but we do advise that you abide by the CDC recommendations of social distancing and keeping 6ft distance from others if you choose to go. For more information on staying safe while using parks and trails please read this information provided by the National Recreation and Parks Association. 

Staff will be reaching out to participants and renters.

Inclement Weather Policy

All classes/programs starting before 12 noon are cancelled when Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) close for the day. For classes/programs starting at noon or later, a decision will be made by 10 a.m. that day. In the event that FCPS have a delayed opening, classes will be held as scheduled. Recreation facilities operated by the City will follow City government closures. On weekends, cancellation decisions will be made by 8 a.m. each day and posted on the City’s website. All classes/programs and gym rentals held in FCPS facilities will follow FCPS closings.

The City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. The City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department will make reasonable accommodations in recreation programs to enable participation by an individual with a disability who meets essential eligibility requirements for that recreation program. The ADA requires that recreation programs offered by City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department be available in the most integrated setting appropriate for each individual.
