The City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of programs and classes for all members of the community. Our classes are open to both city and non-city residents.

Swing Dance with London's JIVE ACES

Beginner swing lesson 1:30-2pm, dance 2-4pm
$20 advance tickets; $30 at the door

What a treat?an afternoon dance with the UK's top Jive and Swing Band! This wildly popular group has performed at thousands of festivals, theaters and events throughout the UK, Europe and the USA, as well as Japan, Israel and the Caribbean. Known for their high-energy music and spectacular stage show, you?ll be treated to swing and R&B classics made famous by greats such as Louis Prima, Cab Calloway, Bobby Darin, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin, Big Joe Turner, and Sammy Davis, Jr., among others.
• Sherwood Giving Tree Program •
Fairfax City Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with Fairfax City Public Schools in order to provide assistance for underprivileged families in Fairfax City. The Parent Liaisons from Daniels Run, Providence, and Lanier Schools have assisted in identifying families in need from each school.
Here are the options in which you can choose to donate (please commit by Nov 30th):
A. Sponsor a small family*: Buy gifts for a family of 4 people or less
B. Sponsor a large family*: Buy gifts for a family 5 or more people
C. Gift Card Donations: Grocery stores/ Target/ Walmart
D. Check/Cash donation: Staff will buy the gifts to donate to the families.
E. Wrapping Supplies

Looking for something free and fun for your family to do on a Friday night?!? How about a family-friendly movie on the new state-of-the-art big screen? Each movie is rated PG. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 14

“Britepaths” Food Drive at
Sherwood Family Movie Nights
For more than 30 years, Britepaths, formerly known as Our Daily Bread, has been a dedicated leader in developing sustainable solutions that stabilize low-income working families, build resilience through financial literacy and mentoring, and provide seasonal supports. https://britepaths.org/
Food can be dropped off at the Sherwood Center on the evenings of the Sherwood Family Movie Nights (see dates above) between 7pm–9pm.
