54th Annual Independence Day Celebration
"There's No Place Like Home"
A Hometown Celebration
June 28th, 5:00 pm at Veterans Amphitheater
Join us as we kick-off “A Hometown Celebration” on Sunday, June 28 at 5:00 pm at the Veterans Amphitheater (located on the grounds of City Hall). There will be games, food trucks (from Fairfax City businesses) and a concert by the award-winning City of Fairfax Band beginning at 7:00 pm. We hope you will join us at this inaugural event. In case of rain the event will be relocated to the Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center; food venders will also be on-site.
The 54th annual Independence Day parade steps off at 10:00 am at 4100 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, rain or shine. The parade loops around downtown Fairfax, along Chain Bridge Road, Main Street, University Drive and Armstrong Street. Among the entries in this year’s parade are nine high school marching bands as well as many large inflatable parade balloons, floats and clowns.
As the sun sets, enjoy music and dancing during the Evening Show at 6:30 pm at Fairfax High School (3501 Rebel Run). Children's activities (inflatables, face painting, and balloon artists) begin at 6:30 pm. On-stage entertainment begins at 7:00 pm with a spectacular fireworks display that follows. The rain date for the fireworks only is July 5. Items that may puncture the synthetic turf, smoking, alcohol and animals (except service animals) are not permitted on the football field.
