Approximately 25% of Fairfax City's residential waste is organic material that can be composted.  By composting, you can turn what would otherwise end up completely wasted into a valuable, nutrient-rich compost which can be used as fertilizer.  

Here are some options for composting organic material:

24-Hour Composting Center

Drop off your food scraps at the pilot Composting Center which will be located adjacent to the Community Garden at Fairfax City Hall (10455 Armstrong Street).  Click the link above to learn more about this new pilot program.
