As much as a quarter of Fairfax City's residential waste is organic material that can be composted. By composting, you can turn what would otherwise end up completely wasted into a valuable, nutrient-rich compost which can be used as fertilizer.
City residents have a couple of great options for composting organic material.
24-Hour Composting Center
Drop off your food scraps at the Composting Center, adjacent to the Community Garden on the west side of Fairfax City Hall (10455 Armstrong Street). Click here to learn more about this pilot program.
