About the Plan
The Bike Fairfax City bicycle transportation plan is being developed to help the City identify and prioritize projects to connect the City’s network of on- and off-street bicycle facilities. The 2035 Comprehensive Plan envisions a "Green Ribbon" network that connects neighborhoods, provides more transportation options, and improves access to key destinations like the City's activity centers.
To help advance this vision, the City will work closely with the community to identify gaps and to prioritize projects to connect and expand the bicycle network. The project will evaluate existing conditions and planned projects and develop a map and a prioritized list of new projects for implementation. Potential projects could include new trail connections, shared use paths, bike lanes, bicycle boulevards, intersection improvements, or other types of facilities.
The planning process, illustrated below, began in spring 2020 and will last for approximately one year. Recommendations from the plan will then be further developed as separate projects for implementation.
