Stacey D. Hardy-Chandler is serving her first term on City Council.

She served on the city’s Commission for Women for five years, including a year as secretary.

A city resident for 11 years, she is currently the CEO of the Association of Social Work Boards, a nonprofit serving the social work regulatory community in the U.S. and Canada. She is a licensed clinical social worker with special training in forensic social work. Her professional career includes direct clinical practice, academic faculty membership and administration, and human service senior management.

She has received numerous awards, including the Sol Gothard Lifetime Achievement Award and National Association of Counties and Virginia Association of Counties achievement awards.

Hardy-Chandler earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Riverside; a master of social welfare from UCLA; and a master’s in psychology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. She earned her juris doctor in law from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law, and a postgraduate diploma in organizational leadership from Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.

She is a member of the National Organization of Forensic Social Work and the National Association of Social Workers, and is an active member of the Fairfax chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

She and her husband Mark have two dogs, Liberty and Terrence.
