Rider Rules, Lost & Found, Accessibility

Passengers are required to wear shoes or other appropriate footwear at all times while boarding, riding, and exiting CUE Transit vehicles. Barefoot passengers will not be permitted to board a CUE Transit bus unless a reasonable accommodation is required under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or other applicable law.

Passengers may transport a personal electric scooter on a CUE Transit bus under the following conditions:

• The scooter must be powered off before boarding.
• The scooter shall not be ridden on transit property or inside the vehicle.
• Folding scooters must be folded prior to boarding whenever practical.
• The scooter must remain under the passenger's control at all times.
• The scooter shall not block aisles, emergency exits, doorways, or access to safety equipment.
• The scooter may not occupy priority seating or ADA securement areas unless those areas are not required by a passenger with a disability.
• Charging of scooters or batteries on any CUE vehicle is prohibited.
• Damaged, leaking, smoking, or overheating batteries are prohibited from boarding.
• The operator may deny boarding if the scooter creates a safety hazard, exceeds available space, interferes with passenger movement, or prevents safe vehicle operation.
• During periods of overcrowding, operators may require passengers with personal electric scooters to wait for the next available bus if safe accommodation is not possible.

ADA Mobility Scooters

CUE Transit will transport mobility scooters used by individuals with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

• Mobility scooters meeting ADA requirements shall be accommodated whenever the vehicle lift or ramp and securement area can safely accommodate the passenger and device.
• A passenger shall not be denied transportation solely because the mobility scooter cannot be secured to the operator's satisfaction if the device can otherwise be safely accommodated.
• Passengers using mobility scooters shall be treated with dignity, courtesy, and respect at all times.

This policy applies to all lithium-ion battery-powered personal mobility devices, including but not limited to electric scooters, electric bicycles (e-bikes), electric skateboards, hoverboards, electric unicycles, mobility scooters, and wheelchairs powered by lithium-ion batteries.

Permitted Devices

The following devices are permitted aboard CUE vehicles, provided they do not present a safety hazard:

• ADA-compliant mobility devices used by individuals with disabilities.
• Personal electric scooters transported in accordance with CUE Transit policy.
• Other battery-powered personal transportation devices approved under CUE Transit rules.

Prohibited Devices

The following devices shall not be transported:

• Devices with batteries that are smoking, leaking, overheating, or emitting unusual odors.
• Devices with visibly damaged batteries or battery compartments.
• Batteries that have been removed from the device and are not properly protected.
• Devices involved in a recent fire or thermal event.

The charging of any lithium-ion battery-powered device aboard CUE Transit vehicles is strictly prohibited.

Passengers shall immediately notify the operator if their battery-powered device shows signs of overheating, smoke, or fire.
