Camps and Classes

Online: Visit Online Registration, available 24 hours a day.

Walk-In: Visit the City Hall Office, Stacy C. Sherwood Community Center, or Green Acres Center, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Mail-In: Signed and completed registration forms must be mailed to:

Fax-In: Signed and completed registration forms(PDF, 198KB) must be faxed to 703-246-6321.

Payment

Credit cards accepted: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa.

Make checks payable to: City of Fairfax.

Payment must be made at the time of registration. The Assumption of Risk Waiver, found on the registration form, must be signed by all participants at the time of registration. A parent or legal guardian signature is required for participants under the age of 18.

Steps to Registering Online

Visit Online Registration

1. Select View Activities – Search for your class by scrolling through (programs and alphabetical order), search by name in top right corner of screen or search by category with drop-down boxes. You can search using single words
2. Select the button Add to my Cart
3. Fill out the necessary participant information and select Save and Continue. If you don’t have an account, continue to step 3a

      1. Select Set up an Account
      2. Request an account – fill in all the required information and select ‘Submit’ or ‘Add another Family Member.’
      3. A link will be sent to the given e-mail account. Open this e-mail and visit the link to activate the account
      4. Go back to home page and select ‘Log in to My Account’.
      5. Register for classes listed above
4. Review fees and answer necessary questions select Continue
5. Review cart – select Done and Continue
6. Complete Payment Information
7. Receive Confirmation

Sign In and Out (Youth Programs)

• All children must be signed in and out of programs by a parent or guardian each day.
• IDs will be checked for all people signing out children from City of Fairfax classes/programs.

Late Pick-up (Youth Programs)

• Children must be signed out of the program at the advertised end time of the class/program.
• A late fee will be charged for any child that is not signed out at the end time.
• Participants will not be able to register for any other programs until late fees are paid.
• Children are not allowed to be dropped off at any program before the start time.

Behavior

All children are expected to behave in a proper and respectful manner. We will not tolerate any hitting, name calling, foul language, destruction of property, or any other behavior deemed inappropriate by the staff. In accordance with the severity and frequency of the behavior, the Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to dismiss any child from the program. No refunds will be given.

City of Fairfax's goal is to have all government programs, services, classes, and camps, and senior programs accessible to all residents. While anyone and everyone is welcome to take our classes and programs, only Fairfax City residents can qualify for fee reductions for classes and camps. These discounts are available on a sliding scale based on household income. Annual income verification is required.

Qualified Individuals

Program participation is limited to people who live in Fairfax City only. Qualification will be determined by household and proof of residency is required upon request.

Households: All the persons who live in the same individual residence at a given time, that are listed as financially dependent on one another on income tax returns.

To request a refund for a class or program, complete the Refund Request Form(PDF, 154KB) and email it to parksrec@fairfaxva.gov or return to any of our offices.

Would you like to offer a class or program at the City of Fairfax Park and Recreation Department?

We are always looking for new ideas to offer to the public. If you are interested in teaching a class for the City of Fairfax, you can fill out the Program Proposal Form(PDF, 40KB) and email it to parksrec@fairfaxva.gov. A staff member will contact you to discuss more details.

In consideration of the registrant being granted permission by the City of Fairfax, Virginia to participate in this program and associated activities, I hereby release the City of Fairfax, Virginia and its officers, employees, agents, and volunteers from any and all liability relating to or arising out of the registrant's participation. I authorize the City of Fairfax and its officials, employees, agents and volunteers, at any such person's discretion to administer emergency first aid treatment and at my expense to obtain the services of a physician(s) and/or rescue squad and authorize the same to effect such treatment of the registrant as they deem advisable. Participants in activities sponsored or cosponsored by the Park and Recreation Department consent to the department's use of any photograph, in film or videotape of the activity in any marketing or promotional materials. I further understand that Parks and Recreation classes are to be enjoyed by all from youth through adults. Participants that continually disrupt the class and/or program experience for others will be asked to withdraw from the class and/or program with expectation of a refund, if applicable, for the balance of the class/and or program.

The City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. The City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department will make reasonable accommodations in recreation programs to enable participation by an individual with a disability who meets essential eligibility requirements for that recreation program. The ADA requires that recreation programs offered by City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department be available in the most integrated setting appropriate for each individual.
