July 7, 2026 – Special Meeting and Work Session

  1. Consideration of a Resolution Requesting that the Fairfax Circuit Court Order a Special Election on the Question of Authorizing the City of Fairfax to Levy a General Retail Sales Tax at a Rate Not to Exceed One Percent (1.0%).

July 14, 2026 – Regular Meeting

  1. Urban Forest Master Plan update - 1-year plan and 5-year outlook.
  2. Housing Trust Fund Presentation.
  3. Update and discussion of potential Small Area Plan Zoning Ordinance amendments.
  4. Follow-up discussion on City Council Code of Ethics.

July 28, 2026 –Regular Meeting

Consent.

  1. Consideration of a contract award for an Owner's Representative for School Construction Projects.

Public hearing.

  1. Public hearing and Council action on potential Zoning Text Amendments regarding Detached Accessory Dwelling Units.

 

Work Session.

  1. Pre-application briefing for 3541 Chain Bridge Road – proposed redevelopment of office space to a mixed-use development of townhouses and retail uses.
  2. Discussion on a land use application (Z-26-00137) Courthouse Plaza, Combined Courthouse LLC, applicant, 10300 Willard Way & 3922 Blenheim Boulevard.

 


September 1, 2026 –Work Session

  1. Pre-application briefing Circle Gateway, 3250 Blenheim Boulevard, on mixed-use development.
  2. Pre-application briefing on Mosby Building, 10560 Main Street, on a concept plan to convert an office building to a mixed-use building including up to 107 multi-family units and commercial on the ground floor.
  3. Pre-application briefing on Northfax West, 3570 Chain Bridge Road, on a concept plan to redevelop the Future Development Parcel (Phase IV) with two multi-family residential buildings (up to 350 units), ground floor commercial (up to 7,000 square feet) with structured and surface parking.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
  4. Discussion on the Citywide Level of Service Study and Dynamic Capital Impact Model.
  5. Discussion on youth sports. (Tentative).
  6. Discussion of a Resolution for the Reappropriation of General/Operating, Capital, and Enterprise Funds Carryover to FY 2027 that were Appropriated in FY 2026 and have not been spent as of June 30, 2026.

  2. (If Needed) Public Hearing and Council Action on a Resolution for the Reappropriation of General/Operating, Capital, and Enterprise Funds Carryover to FY 2027 that were Appropriated in FY 2026 and have not been spent as of June 30, 2026.


October 6, 2026 – Work Session

  2. Discussion on Updates to the FY 2028 Financial Policies and Council Budget Guidelines.
  3. (If Needed) Discussion of an Ordinance Amending Chapter 90 (Taxation), Article II (Real Property Taxes), Division 3 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia pertaining to Tax Relief Program Exemptions for the Elderly and Disabled.
  4. Discussion on FY 2028 Forecast including Macro and Micro Economic Conditions, Revenue and Expenditure Overview; Review of Current Debt and Associated Ratios, the Capital Improvement Program, and Other Funds. 

November 10, 2026 – Regular Meeting & Work Session (November 3, 2026 Work Session canceled due to City Elections.)

  1. Consideration of a resolution to adopt Wilcoxon Trail Updated Alignment (TENTATIVE - alternate date would be December 8).
  2. Consideration of Updates to the FY 2028 Financial Policies and Council Budget Guidelines.

  3. (If Needed) Introduction of an Ordinance Amending Chapter 90 (Taxation), Article II (Real Property Taxes), Division 3 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia pertaining to Tax Relief Program Exemptions for the Elderly and Disabled.

Meeting Information

The City Council typically meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, and holds work sessions on the first Tuesday of the month. The City Council conducts no meetings or work sessions in August. Additional meetings may be called as necessary.

  • Location: Council Chamber, Room 100, City Hall Annex, 10455 Armstrong Street
