May 5, 2026 – Special Meeting - Budget Adoption

Public hearing.

  1. Public hearing of all FY 2027 Budget Appropriations.

Items not requiring a public hearing.

  1. Consideration of an ordinance readopting Chapter 90, Article II, Division 1, Section 90-33 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to classification and taxation of certain real property in the City of Fairfax used for or zoned for commercial and industrial purposes, and to establish a separate tax rate on such real property effective as of January 1, 2026, revenues from which would be used exclusively for transportation purposes that benefit the City of Fairfax.
  2. Consideration of an ordinance amending Chapter 102, Article II, Section 102-31(b) of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia to increase the wastewater utility rate by 6% percent for FY 26.
  3. Consideration on an ordinance amending Chapter 102, Article V, Section 102-203(b) of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia to set the rate for stormwater utility service furnished by the City at $36.02 per BU (Billing Unit); a 5% percent increase.
  4. Consideration on an ordinance amending Chapter 90 (Taxation), Article VI (Tax on Meals), Section 90-262 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to a proposed increase to the levy and amount of tax on meals.
  5. Consideration to Amend Chapter 90 (Taxation), Article VII (Transient Occupancy Tax), Sections 90-301 through 90-310 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to a proposed increase relating to the Levy and Rate of the Transient Occupancy Tax (Subject to Enactment of Enabling Legislation by the Commonwealth, Scheduled for April 13).
  6. Consideration on an ordinance amending Chapter 14 (Businesses), Article II (Licenses), Division 2 (Classification of Certain Businesses), of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to a proposed increase to the levy of annual license taxes on certain business classifications.
  7. Consideration of adopting the FY 2027 budget, FY 2027-2031 CIP, tax rates, and rates & levies.

May 12, 2026 – Regular Meeting

  1. Presentation of a proclamation acknowledging May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the City of Fairfax.
  2. Presentation of a proclamation acknowledging May 10 - 16, 2026 as National Police Week in the City of Fairfax.
  3. Presentation of a proclamation acknowledging May as Small Business Month in the City of Fairfax.
  4. Presentation of the Chocolate Lovers Grants Recipients.

Consent.

  1. Consideration of appointments to boards, commissions, and advisory committees.

Public hearing.

  1. Public hearing and Council action on the Solid Waste Management Plan.
  2. Public hearing and Council action on an authorizing ordinance for the issuance of sewer system revenue bonds in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $11,000,000, to finance capital costs related to the City's sewer system, including without limitation Noman Cole capital costs.
  3. Public hearing and Council action of an ordinance amending and re-enacting Chapter 38 (Environment), Article II (Noise), of the Code of City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to noise mitigation and the regulation of loud, disturbing and unnecessary noises.

Work Session.

  1. Potential Options for Detached Accessory Dwelling Units.
  2. Follow-up discussion of a possible increase in the compensation (salaries) paid to the Mayor and the members of the City Council.

 


May 26, 2026 –Regular Meeting

Presentations.

  1. Presentation of a proclamation acknowledging June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in the City of Fairfax.

Consent.

  1. Consideration of an Award of Construction Contract for Providence Park and Van Dyck Park Outfall Restoration.
  2. Introduction of an ordinance enacting and authorizing a license agreement between the City of Fairfax and Fairfax Eruv Committee, for the placement of Eruv facilities on existing joint use utility poles int he public right of way.

Public hearing.

  1. Public hearing and Council action on a request from Chelsea Wolf, property owner and applicant, for consideration of a Special Use to allow for keeping up to four (4) chickens pursuant to Code Sec. 110-3.5.5 at 4136 Orchard Drive in RM (Residential Medium) district and more particularly described as Tax Map 54-4-05-04-075.

  1. Wilcoxon Trail Extension Briefing.
  2. Discussion of City Council Code of Ethics.

June 2, 2026 –Work Session

  1. Katherine Johnson Middle School student's presentation focusing on sustainability for Northfax and Courthouse Plaza Shopping Center.
  2. Grant supplemental appropriation resolution for FY 2026 Federal, State, and Use of Balance Sheet Funds for Expenditures.

June 9, 2026 Regular Meeting

  1. Presentation of a proclamation acknowledging June 15 - 21, 2026 as National Waste and Recycling Workers Appreciation Week in the City of Fairfax.
  2. Presentation of a proclamation acknowledging June 19, 2026 as Juneteenth in the City of Fairfax.
  3. Graduation of the Spring Civic Connection participants. 

Consent.

  1. Consideration or Introduction of the Grant Supplemental Appropriation resolution for FY 2026 Federal, State, and Use of Balance Sheet Funds for Expenditures.
  2. Introduction of an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a Deed of Lease for a term commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2029 by and between the City of Fairfax, Virginia, and Main Street Child Development Center, Inc., for approximately 7,364 square feet of space in the former Green Acres Elementary School site, located at 4401 Sideburn Road.

  1. Public hearing and Council action on adoption of the Green Building Policy.
  2. Public hearing and Council action on an ordinance enacting and authorizing a license agreement between the City of Fairfax and Fairfax Eruv Committee, for the placement of Eruv facilities on existing joint use utility poles int he public right of way.

     


June 23, 2026 – Regular Meeting

Public hearing.

  1. Public hearing and Council action on proposed amendments to the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, Chapter 86 (Subdivisions) to amend portions of the articles and sections contained therein, including Administration. 
  2. Public hearing and Council action on an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a Deed of Lease for a term commencing July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2029 by and between the City of Fairfax, Virginia, and Main Street Child Development Center, Inc., for approximately 7,364 square feet of space in the former Green Acres Elementary School site, located at 4401 Sideburn Road.

Meeting Information

The City Council typically meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, and holds work sessions on the first Tuesday of the month. The City Council conducts no meetings or work sessions in August. Additional meetings may be called as necessary.

  • Time: 7 p.m.
  • Location: Council Chamber, Room 100, City Hall Annex, 10455 Armstrong Street
