The City Council typically meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, and typically holds work sessions on the first Tuesday of the month. The City Council conducts no meetings or work sessions in August. Additional meetings may be called as necessary. Council meetings and work sessions begin at 7 p.m. and are held in Council Chamber, located in Room 100 of the City Hall Annex, 10455 Armstrong Street.

Citizens are encouraged to present their views on issues of concern. Speakers may address the City Council at regular meetings during presentations by the public and items subject to public hearing.

Public hearing and Council action on an ordinance amending Chapter 54 (Offenses and Miscellaneous Provisions), Article I (General), Section 54-4, of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to the prohibition on the possession, carrying or transportation of firearms, ammunition, or components or combination thereof, in City buildings or facilities, on public property or at permitted public events.(This proposed ordinance would align the City’s existing regulations prohibiting firearms in specified locations to more closely match those in Fairfax County, by adding a prohibition where City-permitted events are occurring (and surrounding areas) and increasing the penalty for violations, as well as some technical amendments.)
