Senior Trips

Discover new places and enjoy memorable outings with our Senior Trips, exclusively organized by the Young at Heart Senior Center for adults 55 and better. Each trip is thoughtfully planned and led by a Fairfax City Parks and Recreation staff member to ensure a fun and safe experience.

Important Trip Details

Trip sign-up information

All trips require a reservation – first come, first served

  • July - Aug. trips open on Monday, Jun. 9.

Walk-In registrations

Starting at 8 a.m, walk-in registrations will receive a number upon arrival for their place in the registration line. Registration for trips will begin at the following times:

  • 8:30 a.m.: Fairfax City Residents only
  • 10:30 a.m.: Fairfax County and Registered Senior Center members
  • 12:30 p.m.: All other walk-ins, call-in and online registrations

On-site registrants may register one additional person. If you are a city resident and want to sign up an additional second friend who is a Fairfax County resident, you may get a number upon arrival for the Fairfax County line and register them starting at 10:30 a.m.

Trip payments

Payment is due in full at time of registration, unless placed on a waitlist. If space becomes available then payment will be due at the time you are enrolled.

Day-of-trip information

All trips depart from Green Acres Center, 4401 Sideburn Road, unless otherwise noted.

Please arrive 15 minutes before departure to check-in with your Fairfax City Senior Center membership card or identification.

Cancellation policy

All sales final. No refunds given on tickets already purchased.

Participants who request a refund must fill out a refund request form at least one week before the event to be considered for a refund. All refunds will be charged a $10 processing fee per individual, per trip. The $10 refund fee may be waived for medical and emergency situations with approval of Recreation Manager and completed refund form.

If the City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department cancels a trip, a full refund will be given.

Inclement weather: Cancellations due to weather will be decided on an individual basis for the safety of the participants. If a trip is cancelled staff will notify participants.
