The Office of Historic Resources Mission

We provide experiences that connect people to our intricate and evolving history to transform the community. We do that by:

Educating visitors of all ages
Collecting, preserving, and interpreting history
Providing visitor services
Applying expertise to support city events and special projects, community development and planning, economic initiatives, and tourism, and
Operating and managing the city’s public historic sites.

Fairfax Museum

The Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center is conveniently located near historic Old Town Fairfax and is a Virginia certified tourist information center.

Historic Blenheim - Tours & History

Visit Historic Blenheim House to see rare Civil War soldier graffiti from 1862-63. Free guided tours Tuesday-Saturday. Explore 12 acres of historic grounds in Fairfax, VA.

Ratcliffe-Allison-Pozer House

This charming brick house is the City's oldest residence within what was the original 6-block Town of Providence.

Join the staff at Historic Blenheim to solve a history-related mystery! Participants will find clues, solve puzzles, explore the grounds and historic house at Blenheim, all while learning different intelligence and spy techniques across the eras of Fairfax History. This program is suitable for ages 8-12 yrs.
