Grants Available to Safety Net Nonprofits Serving Fairfax City
Published on October 13, 2025
The City of Fairfax is offering a competitive grant process for human services nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Fairfax City.
Applications will be accepted from Oct. 8 through Dec. 1. Click here for grant guidelines and applications.
Eligible organizations must have an established presence in Fairfax City at the time of application, either as a nonprofit organization physically located and currently providing services within the city, or as a nonprofit organization currently providing services to city residents but from an office located outside of the city.
Organizations may choose to apply for either a mini-grant ($5,000-$10,000) or a standard grant ($10,001-$40,000), both distributed through a competitive process.
The city will hold a virtual information session at 11 a.m. on Oct. 15 for interested applicants regarding the grant program and the application process. Please register by 5 p.m. Oct. 14 by calling 703-385-7894 or via email.
Additionally, the city will collect grant-related questions through Oct. 24 and update grant FAQs on the website on Nov. 1.
Nonprofit providers remain a critical component of the community's ability to support residents in need. This grant opportunity is intended to help nonprofit safety net providers remain sustainable by mitigating some of their financial burdens.
City Council allocated $200,000 for the Nonprofit Grant Program in the city’s FY 26 annual budget.
