Parks and Trails

About

The Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the care and upkeep of all City of Fairfax parks, trails, athletic fields, and open spaces—totaling over 276 acres of parkland and 28 miles of trails. The team handles routine maintenance, annual improvements, and the management of school athletic areas and public green spaces. They also support all City special events through set-up, operation, and clean-up.

By providing clean, safe, and well-maintained outdoor recreational facilities, the division supports the City's goal to Encourage Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL). With parkland and trails making up about 7% of Fairfax City’s 6.3 square miles, these efforts ensure residents and visitors have access to quality green spaces that promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
