City Council Appoints Melanie Zipp as Acting City Manager

To the members of the Fairfax community:

We are pleased to announce that at last night's City Council meeting, the City Council unanimously appointed Melanie R. Zipp, Assistant City Manager, to serve as Acting City Manager, effective as of November 1, 2025.  Ms. Zipp has indicated to us that she will be appointing J. C. Martinez, Chief Financial Officer of the City, to serve as Acting Assistant City Manager, in addition to his continuing duties as CFO. We are grateful to Ms. Zipp for agreeing to serve in this capacity.

Separately, the process for selecting a permanent City Manager is ongoing, and we will update the community as to any future developments as they arise.

Bryan Foster, who has served as interim city manager since January, is returning to retirement. His last day with the city will be Oct. 31.
