Help restore the local environment and keep our community clean. Join the biannual community cleanup event on Sunday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Event information

Volunteer groups or their designee can meet at the ‘pit-stop’ at Van Dyck Park (3720 Blenheim Blvd) to pick up supplies, snacks, and learn more about the harmful impacts of litter. From there, individuals and groups can proceed to a designated litter cleanup location or join urban forestry staff to remove invasive plants along the trail at Van Dyck Park.

Register for the community cleanup event

The city will provide gloves, safety glasses, reflective vests, pickers, and trash bags for all participants. City crews will assist in removing collected litter and invasive plants at the designated locations once volunteer work is complete.

City residents participating in community cleanup activities are eligible to apply for Stormwater Utility Credit to save money on their annual fee.

For more information, visit the Community Cleanup page. Please note that registration for volunteer activities closes one week in advance of the event.

Why remove litter?

This collaboration of staff and volunteers makes an outsized impact toward ensuring our city is clean and litter-free. Besides being an eyesore, litter can disrupt ecosystems, harm wildlife, and pollute streams and waterways. Picking up litter is a small effort that helps the local environment, fosters community pride, and helps keep our public spaces safe to play and enjoy.
