April 14, 2026 –Regular Meeting

Consent.

  1. Introduction of an ordinance amending and readopting Chapter 90, Article II, Division 1, Section 90-33 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to classification and taxation of certain real property in the City of Fairfax used for zoned for commercial and industrial purposes, and to establish a separate tax rate on such real property effective as of January 1, 2026, revenue from which would be used exclusively for transportation purposes that benefit the City of Fairfax.
  2. Introduction of an ordinance amending Chapter 102, Article II, Section 102-31(b) of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia to increase the wastewater utility rate by 6 % percent for FY 26.
  3. Introduction of an ordinance amending Chapter 102, Article V, Section 102-203(b) of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia to set the rate for stormwater utility service furnished by the City at $36.02 per BU (Billing Unit); a 5 %percent increase.
  4. Introduction of an ordinance amending Chapter 90 (Taxation), Article VI (Tax on Meals), Section 90-262 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, pertaining to the levy and amount of tax on meals.
  5. Introduction of an Ordinance to Amend Chapter 90 (Taxation), Article VII (Transient Occupancy Tax), Sections 90-301 through 90-310 of the Code of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, Relating to the Levy and Rate of the Transient Occupancy Tax (Subject to Enactment of Enabling Legislation by the Commonwealth, Scheduled for April 13).
  6. Introduction of appropriation resolution for the General, Capital, Wastewater, Transit, Stormwater Utility, Cable, Old Town, and Transportation tax funds for FY 2027.
  7. Consideration of agreements between the City and the City Constitutional Officers (the City Treasurer and the City Commissioner of Revenue).
  8. Introduction of an authorizing ordinance for the issuance of sewer system revenue bonds in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $11,000,000, to finance capital costs related to the City's sewer system, including without limitation Noman Cole capital costs.

Public hearing.

  1. Public hearing on the real estate tax rate of $1.095 per $100 of assessed value based upon an assessment ratio of 100% of fair market value, and a personal property and machinery and tools tax rate of $4.13 per $100 of assessed value based upon an assessment ratio of 100% trade-in value (No Council action, tax rate set on May 5, 2026).
  2.   3. Consideration of a resolution requesting the City of Fairfax Economic Development Authority to issue revenue bonds, in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $22,000,000, for the benefit of the City of Fairfax, Virginia, to finance costs for General Government Capital Projects (including without limitation Willard Sherwood).
  4. Consideration of a bond resolution providing for the issuance of general obligation school bonds in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $22,000,000, which were previously authorized by action of the Council and approved at a voter referendum, to finance capital projects for school purposes, including, without limitation, renovations of two elementary schools and replacement of the roof at the high school.

Meeting Information

The City Council typically meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, and holds work sessions on the first Tuesday of the month. The City Council conducts no meetings or work sessions in August. Additional meetings may be called as necessary.

  • Time: 7 p.m.
  • Location: Council Chamber, Room 100, City Hall Annex, 10455 Armstrong Street
