We the People Event

As we celebrate Fairfax’s annual Spotlight on the Arts festival, the Main Street Community Band presents "We The People", a powerful musical celebration of America’s past, present, and future.

This thought-provoking program reimagines beloved folk songs and patriotic tunes through the voices of diverse and contemporary composers. From the bold opening of Fanfare for World Peace to the sweeping beauty of Ticheli’s "Shenandoah" and the powerful strains of Copland’s "Variations on a Shaker Melody", each work offers a fresh perspective on familiar traditions.

Highlights include Amanda Aldridge’s spirited march "On Parade", Bernstein’s iconic "America" from ‘"West Side Story", and Andrew David Perkins’ contemporary masterpiece "Tuebor". With something everyone can enjoy, this is a concert to inspire and unite!

This is a 2026 Spotlight on the Arts Festival event. ✨
