2026 Election Schedule

Candidate Filing Deadlines

  • April 2, 2026. Primary candidates for U.S. Senate and local offices must file by 5:00 p.m.
  • May 26, 2026. Primary candidates for U.S. House of Representatives must file by 5:00 p.m.
  • June 16, 2026. Non-primary and independent candidates for U.S. Senate and local offices must file by 7:00 p.m.
  • August 4, 2026. Non-primary and independent candidates for U.S. House of Representatives must file by 7:00 p.m.

Early Voting Period

  • Thursday, June 18 - Saturday, August 1, 2026 (excluding holidays)
  • Fairfax City Hall opens from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays
  • Two Saturdays, July 25 & August 1, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Two Sundays, July 19 & July 26, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • No appointment is required. Please bring an acceptable form of ID.
