The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has recognized the City of Fairfax as a 2024 Triple Crown Winner. This distinction honors governments that earn all three of GFOA's major awards for a single fiscal year:

  • The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (ACFR)
  • The Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award (PAFR)
  • The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

All of the city's annual financial reports and annual budget documents may be viewed on the city website.

The City of Fairfax is one of only 441 governments across the United States and Canada to earn the Triple Crown for fiscal year 2024.

"Earning the GFOA Triple Crown adds to the City of Fairfax's longstanding legacy of excellence in financial management, building on decades of consecutive national recognition for our budget and financial reporting. This achievement reflects our staff's ongoing commitment to transparency, sound financial stewardship, and clear communication with our community while meeting the highest professional standards in government finance."

— JC Martinez, Chief Financial Officer, City of Fairfax

To receive the Triple Crown, a government must meet the high standards of all three award programs, each of which recognizes excellence in producing transparent, accessible, and professionally compliant financial publications.
