Make 2026 the year you try a new way to get to work! On May 15, join thousands across the DMV — and millions nationwide — celebrating Bike to Work Day by biking to work or school.

Everyone’s welcome, whether you ride every day, dust off your bike occasionally, or are brand new to cycling. What matters is giving this healthy, sustainable option a try for at least part of your commute.

Stop by Fairfax City’s official Bike to Work Day Pit Stop in Old Town Square from 6–9 a.m. on May 15. Register in advance for a free t‑shirt (while supplies last) and enjoy prizes, activities, snacks, and more from local sponsors: the Environmental Sustainability Committee, Bond’s Entertainment Center, High Side, Inova, Ornery, South Block, Senberry, and Trek Fairfax. • Biking partway counts! Bring your bike on transit or park-and-ride for longer trips. (Pro tip: CUE Bus has easy-to-use bike racks on every bus.)
• Plan your route ahead of time for a safer, quieter ride.
• Ride with a friend or family member.
• Don’t forget your helmet!
• No bike? Rent one with Capital Bikeshare at capitalbikeshare.com.

Not a cyclist? You can still get involved — volunteer at the event or help others plan their ride. And if May 15 doesn’t work for you, remember: May is Bike Month, so you can try biking anytime!
