Mini-Art Machines Feature ‘Turkey Time’ for the Holidays
Published on October 29, 2026
Celebrate Thanksgiving with playful, affordable mini art prints available from special vending machines in Fairfax City.
“Turkey Time,” the current theme, features three artists:
- Caitlin Giroux of Fairfax City, whose watercolor and colored-pencil pieces evoke the nostalgia of childhood Thanksgiving traditions. (Commonwealth Brewing, Oct. 31-Nov. 19; Holiday Craft Show, Nov. 20-21; Commonwealth Brewing, Nov. 22-29.)
- Rochelle A. D’Agnostino Salmon of Delaware, who captures the spirit of the Thanksgiving season through pen and ink, watercolor, and mixed media. (Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center beginning Nov. 3.)
- Valerie Salerno, a 10-year-old Fairfax City artist, whose paper-quilled creations celebrate the sights and colors of fall. (Sherwood Community Center beginning Nov. 3.)
The artists have created a beautiful collection that art lovers and dedicated mini-art collectors alike will love. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to share a unique mini-art print with friends, family, or yourself.
Launched in October 2025 with a single machine, the Mini-Art Machines program has grown to three machines located in local businesses and city facilities. The artwork is distributed randomly, making every purchase a surprise.
“This year, I'm thankful for all of our amazing artists!” said Cultural Arts Manager Will Quinn. “There's so much creativity and inspiration in each of these sets, and I can't wait for people to see them. It's the same creativity and inspiration that you see around Fairfax every day, just pocket-sized!"
The Parks and Recreation Department’s Cultural Arts Division issues themed calls for artists, as well as rolling admissions, with a panel of judges selecting featured creators whose work brings each theme to life. Past collections have included everything from ghosts and patriotic pups to winter wonderlands and doodles.
The Cultural Arts Division partners with Fairfax City Economic Development to place the traveling mini-art machines in businesses throughout the city. Bring your quarters, and if needed, participating businesses can help make change
