Officers responded for the report of unauthorized use of a vehicle. The reporting party stated that a known female subject did not return a rental car and the renter had not contacted them. Officers on routine patrol noticed a vehicle fail to maintain its lane and drive through a red light. Officers initiated a traffic stop. Investigation revealed the driver was under the influence. Leul Mekonen, 27, of Silver Spring, Maryland, was arrested and transported to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Second Offense in Five Years. Mekonen was held on a secured bond. (2026-4747)

April 11, 2026 • 10:26 a.m.

Officers responded for the report of a weapons violation. The reporting party stated that an unknown male subject was waving a machete. Officers located the subject. Investigation revealed the subject was under the influence. Virgil Snyder, 54, of No Fixed Address was arrested and transported to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with being Drunk in Public, Disorderly Conduct, and Obstructing Justice. He also was served with an outstanding warrant out of Prince William County. Snyder was held on no bond. (2026-4761)
