The Finance and Accounting Department is divided into the following areas of responsibility:
Provides direction and management to the Finance Division, develops and implements the City's financial policies and procedures, and responds to public inquiries concerning financial operations.

Provides timely and accurate financial information to users which allows for the monitoring of financial performance against legally adopted budgets and fairly presents the status of the financial position of the City's reporting entities. Included are Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Accounting & Financial Reporting.
Provides the most cost effective method of processing goods, services, materials, and construction services for the City of Fairfax while adhering to the procurement laws of the state of Virginia and the City Code.
Maximizes City resources by identifying cost saving measures and making improvements to the budget process while developing and monitoring the City's annual operating and capital budgets.

Administers a program to provide real estate tax or rent relief to qualified elderly or handicapped residents.
Disabled Veteran Real Estate Tax Exemption 703.359.2486
Administers a program to provide real estate tax exemption to eligible disabled veterans and their surviving spouses.
Retirement Administration 703.385.7870
