Provide Your Feedback (Engage)
The city is developing its first-ever Urban Forest Master Plan, a plan that will guide management of Fairfax’s urban forest over the next 20 years. The urban forest includes all of the trees, vegetation, and associated ecosystems within the city, including trees on public and private land.
Public Meeting #4 will offer the public an opportunity to provide specific feedback on the contents of the Urban Forest Master Plan before the final draft is presented to City Council for consideration of adoption in January 2026. Feedback can also be provided virtually through the end of October 2025 by following the link above.
Project background
The Urban Forest Master Plan project is currently in its final phase of development. Phase 1 was completed in February 2025 and included research, analysis, and community engagement to develop a vision for urban forestry in the City of Fairfax. It included numerous tabling events, steering committee meetings, a public survey, and two public meetings.
Phase 2 began in February 2025 and has focused on the development and review of draft documents with specific recommendations, goals, definitions, and strategies for urban forest management. The contents of the drafts are based on public input and guidance from city staff, boards and commissions, and City Council.
