Thaiss Memorial Park

Update September 2026: To our Fairfax Community and beyond -- Many of you may have noticed or heard that the construction on Thaiss Park appears to be suspended. Originally slated to open in late Spring of 2026, Thaiss Park remains unfinished. This is due to legal issues involving the contractor that are outside of the City's control. Please know that although work is halted on the site, City staff continue to work diligently to get work restarted.

Additionally, City staff continue to work with our partner Fairfax Little League. The Thaiss delay has left them squeezed to find enough playable fields. As a temporary solution, the City has installed portable light towers on Field #2 at the Providence Elementary Baseball facility. This is a temporary solution to provide additional lighting and field availability for the fall season while we await the reopening of Thaiss Park.

While the inconvenience of this delay cannot be avoided, staff are working diligently to ensure that any additional costs are not passed along to the City. We thank our community for their patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve these issues in the most timely and fiscally responsible manner possible..

Find out more about the Thaiss Park Development and view the concept plan at the Engage page.

When the Park reopens it will feature:

  • Three standard sized Baseball Fields
  • Improved ADA site access
  • Interactive, Accessible Playground Area
  • Adult Fitness Area
  • Walking Track
  • Improved field lighting
  • Restrooms
  • Picnic Pavilion
  • Rentable Meeting Space
  • Concession Stand
  • Improved Parking & Drop-Off Locations

We will post updates as the work continues, and we apologize for this inconvenience.
