Pickup information

Where do I pick up?

Trees must be picked up from City Hall (10455 Armstrong St) between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026.

Staff and signage will direct you from the parking lot entrance on George Mason Blvd toward the Community Garden/City Hall Composting Center near the upper parking lot off Chain Bridge Rd.

Please provide the name associated with your order to staff once you pull up to the reservation table. Staff will select a tree that matches your ordered species and help you load the tree into your vehicle. Trees cannot be switched out at the time of pickup and must match your reserved species.

How should I prepare to pick up my tree?

Trees picked up in-person may be up to 5-gallon container size and up to 6-7 ft. tall, depending on the species. Please make space in your car and bring a tarp, box, or trash bag to place your tree in to prevent loose soil from spilling into your vehicle. Trees can be laid down horizontally or positioned out of an open window.

What if I missed the event?

Trees not picked up during the designated time window are not guaranteed to be available after the distribution event ends. Please contact the Stewardship Coordinator if you are unable to pick up your tree on October 24.

I didn't reserve a tree for pickup. Will extra trees be available?

No, all trees are reserved in advance through the Arbor Day Foundation website. Walk-ups are not accepted and will be turned away.

How to reserve your tree

All trees for in-person pickup (or direct delivery) must be ordered through the Arbor Day Foundation website. Free trees are limited to one per residential address per season, or two trees per year. Tree reservations are processed in the order they are placed, while supplies last. Trees for pickup must be ordered before noon on October 23, 2026.

To help with the flow of traffic, please enter the City Hall parking lot off George Mason Blvd, drive up to the Community Garden/Composting Center in the upper lot, then exit to Chain Bridge Rd.
