Ribbon Cutting: Government Center Parkway Extension Project.

10 Sep 2026 The city will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, to celebrate the completion of the Government Center Parkway Extension Project.

The ceremony will take place near the intersection of Jermantown Road and Government Center Parkway. The project provides a new east-west roadway connection between Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax.

September 11 Remembrance Ceremony

10 Sep 2026 A special ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10., at Veterans Amphitheater, located on the City Hall campus at 10455 Armstrong St.

The program includes remarks by city officials, the ringing of the bell, a wreath laying, and a bagpiper playing “Amazing Grace.” A piece of steel from World Trade Center will be on display.

Dancing on the Square - Free Dance Workshops!
