George Snyder Trail Extension Fairfax City has developed a conceptual design for a shared-use path on Fairfax Boulevard. The 850-foot-long path will run between the end of the soon-to-be constructed George T. Snyder Trail and the start of the Wilcoxon Trail, linking the two trails.
Chain Bridge Road Shared Use Path This project will construct a missing link of path on the west side of Chain Bridge Road between Assembly Drive and Northfax Street (formerly Orchard Street).

Northfax Chain Bridge Proposal to replace a gas station, retail, and former restaurant with an 8-story building featuring 271 multifamily units, 2,253 sq. ft. of commercial space, parking spaces, and new roads and streetscapes.
Jermantown Road Corridor Improvements Improvements to Jermantown Road to enhance traffic flow, transit operations, pedestrian and bicycle safety, and connectivity, including a shared use path and right-of-way adjustments, with construction expected between 2026-2028.
Fairfax Old Town Hall Rehabilitation The city is rehabilitating Old Town Hall, the premier public facility and cultural center of Fairfax for over 125 years. Phase 2 focuses on interior improvements, ADA accessibility, safety and sustainability upgrades, and rear addition modernization. Construction began August 2025 with anticipated completion June 2026.
Blenheim Blvd Multimodal Improvements Reconstruction of Blenheim Boulevard with sidewalks, a two-way cycle track, upgraded bus stops, and additional turn lanes, enhancing safety and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders.
Willard-Sherwood Health & Community Center Fairfax City & Fairfax County are redeveloping the Joseph Willard Health Center and Stacy C. Sherwood Center sites into a single destination for health, wellness, fitness, and child care. Located at Layton Hall Drive and Blenheim Boulevard, the new Willard-Sherwood Health & Community Center will provide integrated city- and county-operated community, health, and human services to all residents.
Fairfax Square Professional Center A phased mixed-use development that would retain the existing five-story office building and existing bank, while replacing the remaining commercial buildings with four new commercial buildings (for a net increase in commercial square footage); add four residential buildings with approximately 300 total multifamily units, including 44 affordable units in a single building.
